Evaluating Student Learning

There are many different types of assessments you can do to assess the students as a teacher. Some of these include:

  • Labs

  • Mad Minute quizzes

  • Exams

  • Written/ Oral Presentations

  • Multiple Choice Quizzes

  • Projects

As a teacher, grading can be on of the toughest responsibilities that they have. Some strategies that can help are:

  • Give students a rubric at the beginning of the assignment.

  • Explain the rubric and how the marking will work.

  • Go off of the rubric, but make personal comments on the assignment as well.

  • Post examples of what an example of a near perfect and a poor assignment are to show the student what the teacher will expect as well as this will help the teacher stay fair while marking when he or she has a basis.
